Creating the safe community and discipleship is the first priority for us but we also want build more networks, and in this 2025 our goal is to extent skill to our partners, build relationship with more local churches and organizations.
Kompong Thom Satellite

Mission Dove has started a satellite ministry Centre in Kompong Thom almost 15 years and ran many programs to help and support the community in this regional centre about two and half hours north of Phnom Penh. Over these 15 years around 500 people have done the Onyx program, attended leadership club, English class and computer classes. This ministry centre was a safe community where the youth of the town could grow in their self-awareness and discover their own agency to effect positive change in their communities.
This was a very effective ministry but we need to inform our readers that we have had to close this ministry at the end of February because the project funding has completed.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for praying and supporting this Kompong Thom Satellite ministry over such a long period of time!
Read about the leader of this ministry, Kim Heng and how her life was affected by providing leadership in her hometown. We pray you see how through Kimheng’s life and a lot of students there were blessed by her leadership.
Ms. Kin Kim Heng Journey with Mission Dove Cambodia.

Hi my is name is Kim Heng and I was born and raised in Cambodia. I have known Mission Dove Cambodia since I was in high school and enrolled in a Onyx class when I finished grade 12. After one year with Onyx program, it’s made me interest and gave me a love for the ministry at Mission Dove. Onyx has helped me to growth in my Christian life and I’m the first person in the family who has receive Christ as my Savior. There were many things to challenge me when I was growing up in my home community. I was surrounded by Buddhism but through the grace of God, I am here today to serve his ministry in the community where I live by working along with young adults and young women. My mission in life that I long to see is to help young people in my community/village getting healed from their traumatizes and the emotion struggle and build good relationship in their communities and to encourage people.
I have been involved with Mission Dove ministry as a volunteer for seven years and began as a staff member in 2024. I facilitate the women group and Leadership club with my husband Chomno and connecting with leaders in the local church to have youth seminar/ training of social awareness and discipleships. Serving in my own village and watching other people’s lives grow is a blessing of my life. I enjoy working here because of the opportunity for small groups and the fieldwork to support community and the sense of adventure.
I’m so grateful for Mission Dove Cambodia to give me an opportunity to learnt and involvement as a student till I became a staff member. I have grown lots, I love and appreciate the ministry at Mission Dove. I remember in the Bible it said that there is a season for everything and a time to every purpose under the heaven, It’s not easy to say goodbye to our team but I believe that we will keep connecting and work together in the family of Christ. Please keep praying for my family to serve the ministry in Kampong Thom province.

The Transformation in Kompong Thom Province

Hello my name is Reaksmey, I am a Onyx alumni student at Kompong Thom province. I am also a volunteer at Mission Dove Kompong Thom Satellite. I knew of the Onyx program since I was at high school and my pastor told me about this program, I was really interest and want to join it. In 2018 I was able to join in the Onyx program it’s such as a new beginning for me after I finish my high school I started to connected with many new people and build relationships with them. Everyone was from different churches and communities. The first thing that became a challenge for me was sharing my own story because I felt uncertain about sharing my story. As the course progressed the facilitators showed a good model of how to share their own story. The group became a safe space, and I was opened my heart to sharing.
The Onyx program taught me the freedom of being a Christian by looking to Jesus as a role model that we need to follow. I love all the block lessons that I have learnt, it helps me be aware of myself, how to work and connect with people, how to serve, sharing love and be there with them. most the time that I really like about onyx community is people love to share and listening each other. It was a big part the help to change my life to be curious about others and be compassionate to myself and people around. It’s really inspired and encourage to living in this way like Christ. Nowadays I’m working in one small business as a receptionist but in the evening, I volunteer to teach English and facilitate the lesson in leadership club at Mission Dove, Kompong Thom Seattleites. I want to use the gifts that God has given me with the kids and young people in my community. I pray that I will be more passion to continue with the mission in my community and hope through this they can live a healthy emotional life and as they see the love of God shine through me.
